In 2019, a group of experts established by the Tom Lantos Institute developed a training course designed to aid Roma youth to cope with prejudice, by guiding them from recognizing prejudice to effectively responding to it. Drawing upon participants' prior experiences and knowledge, the methodology employs situational exercises along with the use of drama as a pedagogical tool to model biased situations.
Between 2019 and 2023, TLI held training courses across the country for nearly 100 Roma pupils from a variety of backgrounds. In 2021, we also piloted the training programme among Hungarian-speaking Roma in Slovakia. In order to disseminate the methodology, a "Training of Trainers" programme was developed and piloted in 2022.
