In September 1920, Hungary introduced a provision limiting the proportion of admission of Jews and other nationalities to universities, the so-called numerus clausus law. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the law, the Central European University (CEU) and the Tom Lantos Institute have organized an online international conference on 23 and 24 November 2020.

At the conference, Hungarian and international experts examined regional similarities and the ideological background of higher education measures adversely affecting Jews that were introduced in the successor states of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in the interwar period.
