In October two events took place as part of TLI’s “The Rooster Crows” project focusing on the past, present and future of Hungarian Jewry outside the capital.
The Day of Remembrance has been organized in Sátoraljaújhely for the past few years. Several activities have taken place as part of this event including the renovation of Márton Kesztenbaum’s tombstone, the restoration and inauguration of a commemorative plaque at the former Jewish school, and the launch of a publication on the history of local Jewry.
In Győr, in partnership with the local Jewish congregation, an audio-guide is currently being developed for the permanent exhibition of Jewish Religious and Local History at Menház. Furthermore, a teacher training event was organized at the Zsuzsanna Kossuth Leánykollégium, a local college for young women, where TLI was also represented.
