The Tom Lantos Institute has implemented several non-formal educational initiatives to combat antisemitism. The Institute implemented the New World educational project in collaboration with the Haver Foundation and Lifeboat Unit in 2017 and 2018.
The Institute developed an educational programmme addressing antisemitism targeting secondary-school teachers and students in 2020 with the assistance of experts. The project was launched in 2021 with a two-day workshop for teachers, and subsequently piloted and evaluated in seven educational institutions in Hungary.
The results of the evaluation were presented at an experience sharing workshop in Hungary as well as at a regional workshop, where informal guidelines were developed for designing similar educational initiatives in other Visegrád countries.
The project was co-funded by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020).
