The Tom Lantos Institute worked with a group of experts to develop a training course to support Roma pupils in dealing with prejudice they experience. In 2019, we piloted the course in three different locations involving secondary school students.
In 2020, we will continue to organise pilot trainings. In February, we held a training event for students of the Evangelical Roma College for Advanced Studies in Nyíregyháza to test the applicability of the methodology among university students.
Our next training was organised in an unconventional educational setting to try the method in a more relaxed and informal learning environment. This training took place in August 2020 at Tiszaroff. In October, we organized an online presentation for teachers to explore how the training methodology can be adopted to educators.
We are also organising a follow-up event for students who have participated in the pilot trainings to assist us in evaluating the longer-term effects of the courses.
