Assessing and strengthening the UN Forum on Minority Issues

The Institute began its assessment of the UN Forum on Minority Issues in 2016, with the cooperation of the Human Rights Consortium, School of Advanced Studies, University of London. The empirical research provides insight into the structure, dynamics, and normative trends of the global governance of minority rights by analysing the discourses and strategies used by the principal actors of the Forum.

As part of this project, we also developed an online database, which is accessible on the website. All documents related to the Forum, including statements made at the Forum, are searchable and available on this website. In 2020, we will continue with the research and summarising its main findings, while also updating and further developing the database. Additionally, the documentation of the 2020 Regional Forums on Minority Issues will be made available on the website.
